I just have to say that I am an extremely busy (like literally every single moment of every single day from sun up to sun down is consumed by something/someone that needs me) mom of two excessively needy (and of course fabulous) kiddos. I say this to express that I do not have time for ANYTHING and yet I rarely miss an opportunity to read your stories! Your writing draws me in and makes me laugh my ass off (which is so appreciated after long days that often end with me in tears from physical and emotional exhaustion). They are the perfect length for this mom who is cross-eyed by the end of the day, and packed with so much hilarity. You really do have a gift! Please keep sharing with us!
BAH!!! 😭🥰 thank you so much! This is the best feedback to get. I super appreciate the note and the fact that you read these. It’s so fun to connect. THANK YOU
I wrote this comment and then just read the one about your choice to not have children 🤣…not that you needed reassuring, but I’m sure my comment solidified your decision hahaha 🤪 Kids are GREAT but also as you said, a huge responsibility and if you take the job seriously, it can be beyond overwhelming. Enjoy your quiet, travel whenever you want, do whatever you please at any given moment life!!! Lol
I knew you were different (in the most complimentary way) since our brief introduction in one of the breakout sessions during Deep Dive 2024. You had me at "back up dancer for a drag show". I've been a fan of your writing ever since and I have no doubt your book will be published once it falls into the right hands. I believe the world deserves to hear from those who know their own worth and are willing to navigate whatever bullshit is thrown at them in order to reach their goals. I can't wait to read your debut novel.
Thank you!!! This is an amazing compliment. I feel like some people get it and some people think I’m way too much 😂 but that’s kind of the same with everyone in a way.
As someone that took up jujitsu in my 40s, CrossFit in my 50s and surfing in my 60s, I can really appreciate the idea of pursuing things that cause others to shake their head. I also appreciate learning about the process of book publishing. I'm rooting for you (despite what that might do to the size of your head).
I love your writing. A few minor grammatical issues, but I read for your content, and it's damn good! I taught HS English, started AP English at Lake Stevens HS and always encouraged my students to put their thoughts down on paper and then worry about the sentence structure, grammar, spelling, etc. later. The immediacy of thought takes precedence over all that other "stuff." You get it! Style invites the reader to join in the writer's adventure and enjoy the results. You've got this, too. BTW, I may have met you & your husband on a scuba dive boat sailing out of Skyline Marina, Anacortes several years ago with a bunch of other divers. Could that have been you? Keep writing!
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it :) I'm really big on the organic nature of my brain and thoughts. I'm less into grammar. It's just not my style, as you say.
And YES! I think so. We dove with Van's group from Orca Scuba over there in 2014. So fun to reconnect!
I've been searching for the photo, but haven't found it yet. I know there's a printed version at Orca Scuba, but I really want to find the original. Are you sure it was 2014? if so, which month?
I finally ran down the photos--yes, two! Please send me an email address for me to send them to you. I'd prefer to use an email address rather than this format for security reasons.
"It’s natural to give something 90% of your effort so that when you don’t reach the goal, you can protect your ego by saying something to the effect of, “well I didn’t really try that hard and if I had, I could have made it.”" - This has been me almost my entire life. I have been taught to be so frightened of failure that putting myself out there a hundred percent doesn't even seem like a real option. I'm trying to change that but it is very hard. You're lucky you have that confidence and I wish you lots of success in the querying process! And if you can spare some of that confidence for me, send it on over 😅

Never let life stop you.
Send me all your goodest juju for publishing! World domination is the goal
Heard on a podcast that Colleen Hoover self-published. It’s not typical, but it can still lead to world domination.
I love the picture on the bike! Love your writing.
Thank you! I'm so glad your reading them :)

Yes! I've got a photo of our group. If I can find it, I'll send you a copy. Blub, blub!

Positive! It was just a few weeks before our marriage. So late June, early July?

You got this! But of course you already know that 💕
Thank you so much!
